Jewellery laser marking solutions

Jewellery laser marking gives manufacturers, brands and assay offices a precise way to add logos, serial numbers, personalised details and traceability marks to precious-metal pieces.

From individual pieces to repeated production runs, Macsa id helps define the marking position, code content and process conditions required for a consistent result. The final solution is configured according to the alloy, finish, geometry, desired contrast and production volume.

Precision marking for jewellery applications

Laser marking can create fine, durable identification directly on suitable metal surfaces without labels or physical tooling. It is particularly useful where the available space is limited or the design requires accurate placement.

Typical applications include:

  • Brand logos, signatures and decorative details.

  • Serial numbers and unique piece identifiers.

  • Batch references and production information.

  • Data Matrix or QR codes where the available area and reading conditions allow.

  • Personalised text, dates or initials in a controlled production workflow.

  • Marking solutions for authorised assay-office processes.

Laser technology selected for each piece

The best laser technology depends on the metal, coating, polish, mark size and required result. Macsa id evaluates each application before recommending a system.

Fibre lasers for precious-metal marking

Fibre laser marking systems can be assessed for precise identification on gold, silver, platinum and other metallic jewellery components.

They are suitable for logos, serial numbers, fine text and machine-readable codes where the application requires a durable direct mark.

DPSS options for delicate surfaces and fine detail

For certain coated components, delicate surfaces or applications that require detailed marking with controlled thermal impact, Nano DPSS laser technology can be assessed.

The appropriate source and parameters must be validated on the real piece, especially where the visual finish is critical.

Workstations for controlled marking

iLaserBox workstations provide a controlled environment for semi-manual jewellery marking, small batches and static components.

They can be configured around the handling method, part positioning and safety requirements of each workshop or production process.

Traceability and brand protection for high-value pieces

A unique identifier can help manufacturers and brands manage production, after-sales processes and authenticity records. Depending on the application, this may include a serial number, product reference or a compact 2D code.

For machine-readable identification, Macsa id can assess the marking area, code size, contrast, reading device and data-management requirements before implementing Data Matrix code marking.

Laser marking and UK hallmarking

A laser-marked logo, serial number or decorative engraving is not, by itself, a legally recognised hallmark.

Where UK hallmarking requirements apply, the relevant precious-metal article must follow the official process managed by an Assay Office. Macsa id laser systems can support authorised hallmarking workflows, but they do not replace independent testing or the legal requirements for hallmarking.

For official requirements, read the GOV.UK hallmarking guidance.
