MLA 3020/5020/8020 SP & PR is a long-reach pneumatic label applicator for products, packaging, cartons and cases. Its linear cylinder moves the applicator towards the product, making it suitable for label positions set back from the conveyor or difficult-to-access areas of an automated production line.
The system can be configured for contact application, contact on suitable uneven surfaces or non-contact blow application. It is available in SP and PR versions to support either pre-printed labels or print-and-apply labels with variable production information.
The MLA 3020/5020/8020 uses a pneumatic cylinder to bring the applicator towards the product before applying the label. This provides a flexible alternative where a fixed-position applicator cannot reach the required application point.
Cylinder stroke configurations extend up to 800 mm, depending on the selected model and final installation. Macsa id assesses the product position, required reach, label format and production-line layout before defining the right configuration.
The label is held in position using a Venturi system before application. This supports controlled placement on selected product and packaging faces where the labelling point requires a linear approach.
Contact application places the label directly onto the product or packaging surface. It can be specified for applications that require controlled placement on a defined area of the pack.
Selected applicator pads can be configured for products and packaging with uneven surfaces. The final suitability depends on the product geometry, label material, adhesive and application position.
Blow application transfers the label using air rather than direct contact with the product. It can be selected where product geometry, surface condition or handling requirements make a non-contact method more appropriate.
The SP version is intended for applications that use pre-printed labels. It provides automated application where the required label content is already printed before the line process.
The PR version can be configured with a thermal-transfer printer to print information as the label is required. This supports changing data without the need to hold multiple pre-printed label variants in stock.

The MLA 3020/5020/8020 can be configured for a wide range of label sizes, up to 210 × 300 mm. The appropriate minimum label size depends on the selected applicator pad and final system configuration.
Label size, adhesive, product surface, cylinder stroke and application distance all influence the final result. Testing the real product and label helps define the right setup before installation.
Encoder synchronisation can match label application to variable conveyor speeds. The system can also manage speed control, acceleration and deceleration conditions as part of the line integration.
A touchscreen supports setup, status monitoring and alarm management. Ethernet connectivity and external I/O allow the applicator to communicate with other equipment on the line.
