Macsa ID equipment is used to code and mark products made from a wide variety of materials, including paper, cardboard, plastics (PET, PVC, HDPE), glass, metals and wood. The messages and graphics that are achieved are high quality, at a minimum operating cost and at high speeds.

Application News demonstrates a sample of products that are coded and marked with Macsa ID lasers, every day and around the world.

Making an elegant and attractive product for the customer is currently essential, and precisely the marking on wood must be aesthetic and detailed. Therefore, we present an Applications News article where the possible reactions and results of the range of lasers with CO2 technology on wood.Laser marking and engraving of a logo on wood

Reaching this level of finishes is possible thanks to Macsa ID's CO2 range technologies, but the type of application to be carried out must be considered to decide the power of the laser. Accordingly, the greater the power, the greater the speed. As a result, accurate marking can be achieved. The lens will also be considered, which will directly depend on the marking area.

Our range of SPA 2 lasers is the one that has the greatest capacity to adapt to each project. Thanks to the possibility of choosing not only the lens, but also multiple powers, depends on the marking area. If the area to be marked is small, and the marking does not require very high speeds, we can opt for our range of iCON Series lasers, which are compact and easy to adapt to most production lines due to their small size.

Laser marking and engraving of a logo on woodAn elegant deep finish was sought after in these stoppers. This was successfully achieved thanks to our SPA HPD 30W laser, which achieves an engraving on the material that allows the marked logo to stand out. If, on the other hand, a marking without engraving was required, we would apply less power so that the marking would remain superficial.Laser marking and engraving of a logo on wood

In this Application News, Laser Marking on Thermoplastic Polyolefin,  we are in the process of marking the central trim cover of a steering wheel, the surface to be marked is Thermoplastic Polyolefin (TPO), a plastic compound widely used in the automotive sector, with very good resistance and durability for interior finishes. With laser marking, in this case, it gives very good contrast results that allow us to eliminate ink markings or labeling.Laser Marking on Thermoplastic PolyolefinThere are two totally different types of marking that were carried out. The first focused on the traceability of the part, using a QR code, a very common and effective marking today in the automotive world that allows a lot of information to be encoded in small spaces. The second "SRS AIRBAG" is an alternative that we propose to supplant injection molding. Since laser marking has the adaptability to be used to develop a new product, it is a marking that we categorize as aesthetic as it will be one more design element that will always be visible once the piece is placed.Laser Marking on Thermoplastic PolyolefinKnowing the material in regards to its texture and notably its black color, the best option was the F-9020 20W fiber laser from Macsa ID. There is a very good contrast and is clearly legible regarding the QR code (placed on a smooth side), as well as the text (located on the rough finish of the piece categorized as aesthetic).

Marcaje láser sobre tubería de polímero reciclado

Recycling is an increasingly present matter in society, and polymer recycling is not exempt from the trend, despite not being easy due to the variety and composition of the materials. Laser marking on recycled polymer pipe saves consumable costs since it is done directly on the substrate.

Marking and coding guarantees product traceability in the construction market. In this particular case, it is an established requirement that pipes must be marked according to the manufacturing material used and its main use.

The DPSS laser, in this case, the NANO D-6006 DUO from Macsa id, with a 1064 nm wavelength, allows to make a laser marking on the recycled polymer pipe of high contrast and visibility. The chemical reaction of the DPSS laser on the polymer enhances the logo marking on different coloured backgrounds. On the other hand, if CO2 had been used the reaction would be totally thermal causing the plastic to melt and generating a small relief.
